The mission of Youth Leadership Franklin County is to recruit and prepare existing and emerging high school leaders for responsible public decision-making and volunteer service. This mission is carried out through a process, which annually identifies high school juniors with broad interest and leadership capabilities, places them in educational programs, and motivates and directs them toward achieving desirable community goals.
The program includes:
An interview and evening retreat.
Seven full-day classes on different aspects of Franklin County
(students are excused from classes but must make up all work missed).
Attendance at a county commission, city council, and school board meeting.
A monthly meeting with a mentor to discuss different aspects of leadership.
(Mentors are successful and respected leaders in the community)
A community service project
The experience is an excellent addition to a college application or a resume.
