The Domain

Dorm.jpgSewanee’s 10,000-acre campus, known as the Domain, is an outdoor classroom, a place for contemplation, and an excellent vantage point from which to study the world. Students studying biology, geology and environmental sciences, as well as those seeking solitude and inspiration to write or study have an unmatched resource among Sewanee’s forests, lakes, rock outcroppings and meadows. To see maps of the Domain and learn more about it, you can go to: The Office of Domain Management.

                                                                           The Sewanee Experience

The alumni always speak fondly of their Sewanee “experience,” and at the core of this experience is a top quality education. Each year, the University is consistently ranked among the nation’s very best liberal arts colleges as a direct result of the care and devotion of faculty who work closely with their students to yield an unmatched educational experience. Since its founding, the College of Arts and Sciences at the University has graduated 24 Rhodes Scholars, 34 Watson Fellows, and 25 NCAA Postgraduate Scholars, while the institution’s School of Theology has added to its alumni ranks countless bishops, including three of the last four presiding bishops of the Episcopal Church.

The Village

“Downtown” Sewanee offers a collection of charming shops and some of the best dining in Middle Tennessee. Many of the town’s 2,300 residents are teachers and artists, creating a lively community that highly values the arts and education. The University of the South and St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School host frequent lectures, art exhibitions, and concerts to which the public is invited. The community’s Friday Nights in the Park series and annual Angel Fest provides free concerts in the village’s, closing the street to create a festival-like atmosphere for friends and neighbors to enjoy good food and music
