Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Polly Crockett Festival & TN History is scheduled for September 17th (Kick off with Polly Supper), 18th opening ceremony at 9am and Sunday at 11 am. Mark your calendar and bring the entire family to enjoy a fun filled event in beautiful downtown Cowan, Tennessee. Chamber Board member and Chairman Troy Brown is proud to announce this year’s festival is slated to be a fun, adventure filled weekend. Each year this event has grown and expanded to have families travel from all around the region to this unique festival. The festival honors the Pioneer Spirit of Davy Crockett & his wife Polly and the History of Tennessee. The theme for the festival is “Behind every great man is a enterprising woman.”
Last year’s festival had 90 vendors and we hoping for over 90 vendors this September. Vendors specializing in arts & crafts, great food, educational booths for youth, great music and lots of fun! The This & That Marketplace welcomes vendors with commercial products, yard sale items, etc. Virtually, anything goes! The festival kicks off Friday night at 6:00 pm with Polly’s Supper and entertainment. The opening ceremonies and cannon fire is scheduled for 9:00 AM Saturday Morning.
The Polly Crockett Festival is about celebrating the arts. This year the festival is proud to announce the return of the children’s area, Davy’s Hands on Adventure Zone. Come create a piece of art or a rocket and be able to take it home with you! Industries and businesses in Franklin County are coming together to celebrate art and be involved in shaping the future of children. Arnold Engineering and Development Center in partnership with ATA: Aerospace Testing Alliance, Nissan North American Decherd, Home Depot, Interlocal Solid Waste Authority, All ages are welcome to experience the fun and excitement of Davy’s Hands on Adventure at the 30th Annual Polly Crockett Festival.
Other attractions at the festival include A Living History of Tennessee, complete with Civil War Camp, period dress, and skillet toss. Polly’s Farm will have animals to pet and ride. Kids will receive free balloons at Polly’s Balloon Stop. Need to rest, take a buggy ride around historic downtown Cowan. Polly’s Supper will be served Friday night at 6:00 PM. Art in the Park will feature fine art from local and regional artisans and will feature live demonstrations by woodcarvers and flintnappers
Local entertainment will be performing all weekend on Polly’s Stage. There will be performances by dance groups, tumblers, cloggers and more at Polly’s Stage located on Tennessee Avenue. Shade tree bluegrass pickers will be entertaining on Davy’s Stage during festival.
