ADULT BASIC EDUCATION PROGRAM
The Franklin County School System provides an Adult Basic Education Program for adults who are interested in completing their elementary and secondary education. In order to best meet the individual needs of the participants, the program is divided into three levels.
Adults who have little or non-existent reading and writing skills are provided with Level I trained volunteer tutors, with privacy assured. Upon achieving a fifth grade reading level these adults are encouraged to participate in the Level II Adult Basic Education classes. When students reach ninth grade reading level, they are eligible for Level III to concentrate on preparing themselves for the GED test. After the students successfully pass the GED test, a general education diploma or GED test, will be granted.

Partners In Education (PIE) |
|
The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce along with the Franklin County Board of Education have joined together to implement a program known as Partners-In-Education. The Partners-In-Education Program (P.I.E.) was formed in 1991 and as of March 1997, 139 Franklin County businesses and industries have joined in partnerships with 13 schools. The purpose of this program is to encourage businesses and schools to join resources to benefit the school system and the children. Along the way, the businesses discovered they reaped the rewards of the many thank you letters and gifts they receive from the students. Each year the Chamber and Board of Education hosts a Partners-In-Education Reception to honor the schools and businesses.
